What are the properties of pure tungsten electrodes

The pure tungsten electrode is the oldest of the cerium argon arc welding electrode, but its defect is also very obvious. Under DC welding conditions, the tip temperature of electrode is higher, which results in the unstable arc beam, more difficult arc, and the service life is shorter.

Therefore, the pure tungsten electrode is only used as a welding electrode or as a resistance welding electrode under communication conditions. Although the defects are obvious, the pure molybdenum electrode and tungsten electrode also have their own unique advantages, such as low steam pressure, low resistance, good electrical conductivity, small thermal expansion and high elastic modulus. In the AC welding and specific welding application industry, pure tungsten electrode is unique and irreplaceable compared with other electrode.
